Dream Bars
Dream Bars have been a favorite dessert for years! This classic recipe is so flavorful, with a shortbread crust and topping flavored with brown sugar, coconut, and pecans.

How to Make Dream Bars
You can find the full, printable recipe at the bottom of this post. This recipe has two main parts- first, we prepare a simple crust and bake it, then, we prepare the filling and bake once again.
For the Shortbread Crust
- Preheat oven to 350℉ and grease a 9×9 inch pan.
 - Combine the brown sugar, butter, and flour and mix with an electric mixer and mix until well blended.
 

- Press into the prepared pan. Bake at 350℉ for ten minutes or until golden brown.
 


For the Top Layer
- Mix the sugar, eggs, and vanilla on medium speed until smooth. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
 - With the mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture, mixing just until combined. Gently stir in the nuts and coconut. Pour over the baked crust.
 


- Place the pan back into the oven to bake the bars for 350℉ for 20-25 minutes or until brown. Remove the pan from the oven and allow the bars to cool before slicing.
 



Dream Bars

Ingredients
For the Crumb Layer
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick of butter- 113g)
 - ½ cup light brown sugar (dark brown sugar is fine also)
 - 1 cup all purpose flour
 - ¼ teaspoon salt
 
Top Layer
- 1 cup light brown sugar
 - 2 eggs
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - ½ teaspoon baking powder
 - 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
 - ½ teaspoon salt
 - ½ cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
 - 1 cup sweetened, flaked coconut
 
Instructions
For the Shortbread Crust
