Ingredients

For the Chocolate Mixture

  • 10 oz Chocolate Chips (We used Semi-Sweet)
  • 14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter

Brown Sugar Batter

  • 2 cups light brown sugar (434g)
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, melted (1 cup or 226g)
  • 2 eggs, room temperature (If in a hurry, warm the eggs in a bowl of warm water for 5 minutes).
  • 2 cups all purpose flour (252g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (8g)
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 10x15x1" jelly roll pan and/or line with parchment paper (leaving an overhang on each side so that you can easily lift the bars out of the pan.)

For the Chocolate Mixture

  • In a medium saucepan, add the chocolate chips, condensed milk, and butter. Stir over low or low-medium heat until smooth. Then, remove from heat. (You could also use a double boiler for this step).

For the Brown Sugar Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the melted butter, eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir, until well combined.
  • Next, add the flour and salt, stirring just until combined. Then, fold in the chopped pecans.

Filling the Pan and Baking

  • Spread half of the brown sugar batter into the pan. Spoon the warm chocolate mixture over the brown sugar batter, spreading to cover.
  • Next, drop batter by the spoonful over the chocolate layer. Spread and swirl the batter over the chocolate layer.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes and check or doneness. Move the pan to a cooling rack. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars. Makes 4-5 dozen.
