Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz) tube of Crescent Rolls (in refrigerated section)
  • 6 hot dogs, sliced into fourths (You can also substitute with a pack of 24 Lil Smokies cocktail sausages). **See Notes
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Coarse Sea Salt or flaked salt (optional-light sprinkling on top before baking)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Open and unroll the crescent dough. You will have 8 triangles. Separate the triangles, and use a knife to cut each triangle into 3 longer, narrow triangles.
  • Place a piece of sliced hot dog (or a cocktail sausage) on the widest end of the dough and roll it up. Repeat for all of them.
  • Arrange them on the parchment lined cookie sheet. Lightly brush the tops with a bit of melted butter. If you'd like, lightly sprinkle sea salt or coarse salt over the top. (See notes for other seasoning options)
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Peek in as the end time approaches and adjust time as needed as baking times may vary.

Notes

We wanted smaller more bite sized Pigs in a Blanket and so our hot dogs were sliced into fourths. If you want them a bit larger, you slice them into thirds and use 8 hot dogs. (For a total of 24)

*After brushing the tops with melted butter, you and sprinkle with the seasoning of your choice. Some popular options are coarse or flaked salt, "Everything Bagel" seasoning, Poppy seeds, sesame seeds, etc.
Serve with your dipping sauce of choice-- ketchup, dijon mustard, ranch dressing...endless options.
